WWP New Encoding Environment

Guide Development

  • Overhaul keywords
  • Finish adding missing content (Technical Advice and Magic sections)
  • Identify and add new articles and entries needed
  • Expand glossary
  • Expand bibliography

WWPDoc Development

  • Clone the Guide architecture
  • Convert current WWP markup doc to Guide P5 schema and substitute into the cloned Guide architecture
  • Fix keywords (80% complete)
  • Overhaul content to separate instructions from rationale; separate sections for P4 and P5 (following Nov. 2008 staff discussion, decided new documentation will only include P5 instructions)
  • Identify and resolve all questions and ambiguities in current P4 encoding, and document these (again, no longer an issue due to P5-only nature of updated documentation)
  • Identify variances within current/historical WWP encoding practice and flag for attention when we convert to P5

WWP@20

  • Post plans to board list
  • Write Cogut proposal
  • Approach other funders
  • Commission articles from contributors (tracking list here)
  • Add WWP@20 page to WWP site
  • Write WWP history
  • Design postcard, mail by February 27
  • Email to non-subscribers announcing free trial in March
  • 2009 conference planning

Technical Development

  • Put textbase into eXist for experimentation
  • Develop eXist tool for inspecting WWP textbase
  • Groom and publish EMPB
  • P4 DTD fixes (simple ones only)
  • Overhaul supraXML validation, fix and expand, develop related Schematron for whatever portions are appropriate

Grant Proposal Development

  • March 18, 2008: NEH/IMLS proposal on manuscripts with the library Submitted
  • April 2, 2008: NEH Digital Humanities Startup Grant to support collaboration on Emerson MS project Not submitted
  • July 1, 2008: NEH Research and Development grant on contextual metadata Submitted
  • November 4, 2008: NEH Collaborative Research grant on MS encoding Submitted
