Julia went to the DH2015 conference. Abstract is available online at dh2015.org for those interested. Discourse, Design and Disorder and the Kissinger talk were particularly notable. TAPAS and Textgrid may work together in the future

There's an upcoming conference: Colloquium on Library and Higher Learning. A few ideas were tossed around, including assesments, undergraduate engagement, and hacking the humanities.

Annual cheeck-ins have started, with the WWP being the first one up. We've learned a few things from the process. Because of this we've changed the mechanics of it, which is reflected in the updated Podio form. Some of the questions were framed to be very long, so making sure wording reflects what answers we want is important. It's also vital to make sure things are irculated to the appropriate staff, which we will from now on ask for in our initiaal contact email about the check in. The next project to be scheduled is the ECDA. It was decided thaat cheeck-ins should be review before meeting with the project, though in what form is still up in the air.

A question raised was: What is the next step after gathering the information from the check in? As a result, we may do reports in order to have a concrete object as a delivarable. We may also do other things to raise awareness of the projects, like blog posts.

A few other questions were: How do we help projects market themselves? What are the longer goals of these projects?

We may offer code review in the future as a form of technical support.

We are looking for a few DH Startup grant applications. These are 60k grants, and can help fund a new phase of an existing project. Ideas included a visualization component for TAPAS, or a toolkit widget. The deadline for the grant is in mid-September. Multiple startup grants are permitted.
