  • Syd taught a class at DHSI, which went well but was perhaps too advanced for some participants.
  • The class was Advanced TEI, and was co-taught with James Cummings
  • Sarah attended Open Repositories
  • We applied for an IMLS forum grant for culturally sensitive repositories, which tied in nicely to the presentation she saw onthe Latin American Digital Initiative and the challenges of working with marginalized communities
  • They discussed what it means to be sensitive to content
  • Sarah presented on how statistics are collected for the DRS, and since many struggle with similar problems in their own repositories, people were very interested
  • Amanda went to ALA
  • Amanda was chairing the subcommittee for Literatures in English
  • A few groups are now looking to coalesce themselves into have a DH subgroup in the academic section of ALA..
  • Steven was a visualization consultant at Middlebury conference. Also attended a food and visualization workshop at CAMD.
  • Some renovations will be happening that move people around, specifically Steven and Bahare. Ethan has sent out an email with more information.
  • Param presented the DMP. The final verdict was to have two forms. A short form, which leads to a long meeting between the project and the DSG where we can sit down and discuss the data so that they aren't intimidated, and a longer form for those more familiar with data, which leads to a much shorter meeting with us. The choice of which to use will be left up to the group.
  • The DMP will go up on the website, and be included as part of a DSG welcome packet, which will include project intake questions, project management guidelines, and the DMP.
