  • Eli and Ashley went to Code4Lib (Ashley attended virtually.)
  • Slides and speakernotes are on slack for those interested in watching the keynote.

  • Code4Lib journal is looking for submissions.
  • Amanda has put some of our events in SAIL, which may result in higher undergraduate turnout.
  • WWP has been looking for a new database to run the back-end of WWP.
  • They have chosen eXistDB.
  • All store xml data and let you access the data with xml technology, make documents query-able, and provide indexing. All also serve out content over the web.
  • BaseX was the most lightweight, and makes the most send as a learning tool.
  • MarkLogic was a powerful software, but too complicated and heavyweight. It's only free up to 1tb and very expensive after that.
  • Also very steep learning curve, lack of interoperability
  • eXistDB focuses on application development.
  • Easy to set up, but lacks the training wheels of BaseX.
  • Easy to play with and very invested in TEI data.
  • A little slower to keep up with standards, but quicker thank MarkLogic.
  • The website has a few updates. The about page has been slimmed down, though we'd like more up-to-date pictures.
  • The project page has been spruced up and reorganized. A future iteration may have filterable tiles for projects.
  • We've also made some aesthetic changes, like fixed wrapping problems with the print icon, and made the news page use snippets instead of full stories.
