The following is a running list of specific textbase tasks that need to tackled. If you are interested in taking on one or more of these tasks, put your initials and the date in the "Claimed by" column. For more detailed instructions for any given task, just ask John.

General Tasks

File(s) Task Claimed by Completed Notes
philips-k.pompey.xml Supply n= attribute for final two <pb> elements JM (/) JM
various For listed files determine which errors are the result of transcription/encoding errors and which are due to HTML display problems; correct all encoding errors NP See this new page for detailed instructions and tracking
various insert markup for static title-level URLs JM JM Before publication, all texts should have an <idno type="URL"> element in the <teiHeader> that is used to generate a title-level URL for web use; this is currently missing in 38 texts. Add Syd's magic code (get from John) to your .emacs file to insert the correct <idno> content in each of these files.

P5 migration tasks

These are tasks that require human intervention (they weren't part of Syd's auto-conversion process, in other words). Because some of these tasks are dependent on another task being completed first, be sure to check the "Dependency" column for information. Specific instructions for each task are included in the "Details" column, but feel free to ask for clarification on any task that requires it.

Tasks that are currently ready to be claimed are marked with a green star ((*g) ). When you claim a task, replace the star with your initials and the date. Be sure to leave any notes about the status of the task or problems you encountered in the "Notes" field.

Tasks that are marked with a red star ((*r) ) are not yet ready to begin.

File(s) Task Claimed by Completed Notes & Comments
ALL Add  type= attribute for all <docRole> elements in the text NP 12/3/10 NP 12/3/10 Applies to all texts in under_construction/ and improvement/

A handful of files in both directories have been corrected already; most have not. If you validate the file upon opening, you will immediately see whether type= needs to be added for that file. Make sure you check the file(s) back in once you're done with them.

ALL invalid files in improvement Add type= attribute for all <docRole> elements in the text NP 12/7/10 NP 12/10/10 All files in improvement/

See attached file "invalid_2010_12_06.rtf" (in the attachments section for this page -- under the "Tools" tab) for a list of all the files in improvement/ that are currently invalid. Some of these invalidities are caused by problems other than missing type= on <docRole>, but you can still feel free to correct them  :-)
